Carter Family Country Classics Roadtrip.

No one had more fun than me this past weekend. I was at the Whiskerino2005.com beard contest throwdown party.

Throwdown Flickr Set.

Today is the last day of the beard of contest. We can shave starting now. I'll be shaving tonight after dinner (after I post my last bearded picture).

On the way to Nashville, we stopped at the "Birthplace of Country Music Museum" in Bristol, VA. I love the Carter Family! I love Jimmie Rodgers! This is the town where they were "discovered".

Me and Jimmie:

In Nashville, we saw the Ryman Auditorium where they use to hold the Grand Old Opry. It was AWESOME! Hank Williams played here!!!! It was awesome!!

Here is the view from the back row:

I can't wait to go back to Nashville. The Strokes are playing the Ryman next week. Wish I could see them in that place.

Jaime and I are off tomorrow for our Beard-centric weekend road trip.

First stop, Richie Havens in Charlottesville. I saw him at there once before and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I talk about that before.

Newest Broadcast Songs

Oh, man. I picked up the newest Broadcast CD on my last trip to Relative Theory and I've got a few of them here for you. I dig Broadcast.

Here's the lead-off track from the album:

Broadcast - I Found the F.mp3

And this song here is awesome. I get so mad when it's over. I want it to keep going. I want an super long extended mix for road trips. A seven minute mix would be nice to, you know for the bedroom.

Supergrass Appears on Beard Website!!!!!!!

Holy crap!! Supergrass made thier first appearance in a Whiskerino2005.com Beard Contestant's picture:

Sweet Pea Honey Bee Em Pe Three (and new YYY's Song)

"What can I say? I often feel like I repeat myself - words cannot express how much you mean to me. I was so lucky to have met you. I am so glad you came to that (guys and dolls) rehearsal and started to talk to me. You are one of a kind. I get scared sometimes that you'll be taken away from me because I love you so much! You have been a rock through our medical problems! You always manage to make me laugh! You really should be nominated for husband of the year! I truly appreciate all you do for me - you're the best! I hope I can do the same for you!. "Heart" you Jaime." -- Hand Written in my Valentine yesterday.

---------------

So that made me think of this silly love song I wrote a long time ago. So last night, after dinner at Nicks Riverwalk in historic Yorktown, VA, I dug out my notebook and figured out a way to sing it. It surprised me, because it takes a disturbing turn at the end that I didn't remember. This is probably not a relationship any girl would want to be in.

Listen to the whole thing to get it. It's short. I'll call this my Podcast #2. You'll have to turn your volume up because I recorded it quickly and had the levels set low. I didn't want to lose the spontaneity so I just left it.

UPDATE MAR 10: Email me if you really care to hear the song.

You MUST hear the newest YYY's song: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Let Me Know.mp3

My doppleganger Matt (of the once upon a time, Outer Loop) has a record label. He's got some mp3's of his newest squiggly songs. You should really check it out.

Mylo, Molly Erdman, and Zach Galifianakis

Have you seen the new Sonic commercial where the funny Molly Erdman is looking for her "Secret Admirer"? She's got talent! Put her in the movies people!

Am I wrong, or has "Lost" lost it? You basically just need to read the synopsis on Thursday morning and you know everything you need to know. Don't bother with "Lost" but watch "How I Met Your Mother".

Check it, Zach Galifianakis's whole Comedy Central Special is online for free at youtube.com:

Do Grizzley's Dance the Foxtrot?

We went to our first "All Occasion Dance" Class tonight at the Denbigh Rec Center here in Newport News, Virginia. It was SO fun (and we needed some fun after this week). But then I was up late googling gun laws of Virginia and I stumbled on the movie "Grizzley Man" on the Discovery Channel. I had always wanted to see it and I tried to go see it when it came to the Naro Cinema (our local independant theater). But, alas, I never saw it. No doubt I'll fall asleep before I see the end. It's playing again Saturday at 8pm Eastern.

But in between my flipping one channel down to the "What Not to Wear" marathon (Stacy London..........), I notice this guy who lives with these Bears.......I forgot what he said that made me want to blog...... I love Stacy London a whole lot less than I love this woman of mine. She's strong. We'll get by. What the heck did that Grizzley guy say that made me want to tell you people something????? Instead I look pathetic...Stacy London made me forget. I have a thing for sassy big-mouths. That's a compliment honey; Remind me to delete this in the morning.

CLAME - To CLAME something

So I want to pitch a bit of beard slang into the oven and see if it bakes. I want to run it up the flagpole and see if it waves. I want to throw it in bed with Madonna and see if she sleeps with it.

The "it" in this case is something the fellas in the Beard Contest have been using. It's the word "CLAME" meaning "Click My Name" or "Click-a Me" name.

It's quite convenient. Peruse this for examples.

Maybe the bearded didn't invent it, but we popularized it, and now I want you people to start using it. When you are surfing the interweb, and you want to leave comments to reference a link, you just write "clame" at the bottom of your post and people know to click your name to get to the site.

Also, I wanted to turn you on to Jack White's new band? The Raconteurs. It doesn't work on my Mac, but it worked good in IE. (Thanks to aquamelina)

And, furthermore, Artemis records is rereleasing Margot & the Nuclear So & So's who have some catchy stuff on their website.

Check this video out: A Sea Shanty of Sorts - Live, Madison, WI (WMV)

More Margot...So & So's videos at their website.

Feel Free to scroll up and check out my Archives! Thanks for stopping by!
